This Sunday (1st October) is international coffee day, which is the global celebration of coffee’s journey from the farm to your cup. All across the 77 member states of the International Coffee Organisation (ICO), there will be events going on from today (Friday) until Sunday, honouring the men and women who grow and harvest our beloved beans around the world.
To see some more info about what’s going on, check out the hashtag #InternationalCoffeeDay on Instagram and Twitter, or find an event near you on the official website here. There’s plenty going on, so what better time to get involved in some caffeinated fun!
History
Celebrating coffee isn’t an entirely new concept, the ICO was launched 3 years ago…
“In 2015, the ICO launched the first official celebration of ICD with a dedicated website featuring more than 70 events from 35 countries around the world. Last year, nearly 130 events from 54 countries were posted on the ICD website. The ICO is once again calling on private companies, independent businesses, public associations, and coffee lovers around the world to organise an event or campaign for ICD 2017 weekend.”
